Experienced to provide the best support
I have spent 12 years caring for the dying and their important people as a nurse. I have worked in A&E and people’s homes, hospices and nursing homes. I have spent 5 years as a community palliative care nurse, in Brighton and in mid Wales. More recently I have qualified as a Trainee Level 4 counsellor at the Wight Counselling Training Institute, and am also a Wild Beach Leader in training.
When I was 15 I saw my dad die, suddenly and unexpectedly. When I was 21 my grandmother died, beautifully and serenely. These losses inspired my understanding of how impactful deaths and losses can be, and how important it is that people have good holistic support at these difficult times.
My own journey
I have recently journeyed with breast cancer, so I have navigated healthcare as both a patient and a nurse advocate. My experience as a nurse meant I was confident to find my own way, blending orthodox and alternative medicine in ways that worked for me, and I am passionate about helping other people to do the same, at all stages of life.
A kind, Holistic approach
My approach centres kindness and practicality to support you to navigate your own way through challenging situations. I have a longstanding meditation practice and I am well grounded in the natural world. I have a fascination for how we make meaning and connection with nature and each other and I bring all these elements to my work.
